Island Hopping at Lombok and Gili Trawangan

A road trip with Willy always worth to wait. I’m even sure he has a million plans to do a road trip in the future, whether he knows the place or not.

Perjalanan bersama Willy selalu senantiasa ditunggu.

“Do you want to go to Lombok? Then we can go to Gili Trawangan…,” he asked.

“Yes, I do!”

“Iya, mau!”

Actually, I don’t even think when I answer his question. I just…, yes, I do. Because it’s too exciting for me as for he asked me to marry him.

Saya cuma… iya, mau. Saya terlalu bersemangat kayak mau diajak nikah.

So far, Willy takes me to a tourist spot sometimes, but most of them are nature theme. Not a shopping mall, or an amusement park. Just simply a place that we can enjoy the nature without tall buildings. And I love it. So, why would I hesitate when he asked?

Lombok is another tourist island in Indonesia. Only 4 hours by ferry from Padang Bai Harbor, Bali. It’s a different island so there will be a different atmosphere. Anyway, you have to try Ayam Taliwang once you are in Lombok.

We spent two nights in Mataram, then we went to Gili Trawangan on the next day for a night, and then we went back to Bali on the fourth day through Lembar Harbour in Lombok. I want to write in a different post like our Christmas trip, but let’s make it short. Otherwise, you’ll get bored to read my post.

Nanti bosen bacanya.

We arrived at Mataram around 6 P.M. so we have no choice other than having a dinner, then prepare ourself for tomorrow’s trip.

Kami tiba di Mataram sekitar jam 6 sore jadi kami tidak punya pilihan lain selain langsung makan malam, trus siap-siap untuk perjalanan besok.

The next day was a more likely beach to beach trip. We went to Pink Beach that takes half a day, with bad bumpy and muddy roads because of the rain last night. But you know, to go to all the beautiful places doesn’t mean it has smooth roads to cross. It’s called Pink Beach because of the seashells that turned the sands into pinkish color under the sun. There is a huge coral hill at the shore, that when you climb it to the top, you can see an amazing view of the blue sea.

The next was Tanjung Aan Beach. It has white sands and the sunset view from the coral hill was stunning. It’s quite romantic tho. For you who like to go uphill, try to go to Bukit Merese near Tanjung Aan Beach. The view will be more amazing.

Before we go to Tanjung Aan Beach to watch the sunset, we stop by a traditional village called Sade. In this small village we can stroll around and see Lombok traditional houses, local crafts, and souvenirs and if you are lucky you can see traditional battle show.

Rest of the day, we were riding a motorbike around the city and try local snacks.

On the third day, we were going to Gili Trawangan via Bangsal Harbour. Along Senggigi road, all you’ll see is a calm blue sea. And unlimited coconut tree, of course.

There are three Gilis that you can go from Bangsal Harbour: Gili Trawangan, Gili Air, and Gili Meno. Gili itself means an island. We choose Gili Trawangan because that island is the most crowded among the Gilis. You can search on Google for more information about the Gilis and diving site.

Ada 3 Gili yang bisa dicapai lewat Pelabuhan Bangsal: Gili Trawangan, Gili Air, dan Gili Meno. Gili sendiri artinya pulau.

I personally almost couldn’t believe what I saw when we arrived at Gili Trawangan because most of the guest houses are full of foreigners rather than the locals. Lol.

Haha…

We spend a night in a budget guest house, but because we have to visit a friend of mine at Ombak Sunset Hotel, so we spend all day to go to that the-most-popular-sunset-point hotel at Gili Trawangan by walk. There is public transportation called Cidomo but it is against my animal’s right, so I prefer to walk. And there are also bicycle rent but based on Willy’s experience he never got any bicycle that is in good condition (hard to break, hard to handle), so yeah, we both agree to walk. Besides, we enjoy taking photos along the beach.

After we went back to our hotel, we went to the night market to have dinner. All fishes and kinds of seafood are fresh here. You won’t be disappointed.

Nggak bakal kecewa deh.

Finally, on the fourth day, we have to go back to Bali. We parked the motorbike at Bangsal Harbour, so by using a boat, we back to Lombok Island.

It was my first time to go on a trip without an itinerary, and just believe in the expert. Nothing to lose, huh?
